New Codex, and some battle scenes

Codex Astra Militarum

With the release of Codex Astra Militarum, my Imperial Guard are feeling some love.

Some friends and I took a trip to Warhammer World in Nottingham, UK, where I got to roll out my new Guard rules.

While the forces of the Imperium were defeated by the filthy xenos alliance of Eldar and Tau, we held out until the very end.

Here’s some snaps of the day:

Over the Battlements

In the distance, the forces of Eldar and Tau approach.

Fire at will!

A weapons team targets Commander Longstrike while Eldar forces move rapidly up the flank.

It's hopeless!

From their vantage point high atop a fortress tower, a Platoon Command squad prepares for the assault.

Sneaky xenos!

As Longstrike continues to advance, the dishonourable Eldar advance out of sight into the Fortress walls.

Hold the line!

An advance scouting party of guardians tries to rapidly assault the left flank, only to be spotted by the men manning the wall.

Damned skimmers!

The left flank capitulates as the brave Crimson Fists attempt to delay the now unstoppable Eldar incursion. Even with a Vendetta rushing to hold the line, all is lost.

They came from behind!

Kroot have infiltrated behind the lines, and surprise the guardsmen on the right flank, just as the Eldar breach the outer wall.

Damn you Tau! Damn you all to hell!

Despite the last minute intervention of Black Templars marines, the Tau manage to land their most fearsome battle machine onto the prize. The webway gate is lost!

This board is huge!

Really huge! The Imperial lines, this is a 12′ by 6′ board, so three times bigger than what I usually play on, and my concept of range was completely lost. Was great fun to play on though!
